The word truck comes from the Greek word ‘trachos’, meaning ‘wheel’. Apt name for a vehicle that is responsible for much of our ‘last-mile’ logistics and transportation needs. Simultaneously with the variety of goods produced has been the increase in the quantity of production, thereby necessitating huge goods carriers.

Transport of materials from one part of the world to another or even one part of the city to another, is a huge logistical exercise, and is accomplished successfully with the help of trucks. Trucks are goods carriers having different sizes, constructions, utilities and are used for hauling everything from perishable items like fish and flowers, to raw materials like coal powder and steel dust, or finished products like assembled cars and computer parts.

While the railroad and the freight liners, and even freight planes, haul materials over long distances, it is the trucks that bring them to the warehouses and the wholesalers and retailers.
