Although summer is now in the rearview mirror, many of us still have summer outfits we’d still like to rock even in colder weather. The unfortunate thing is that most summer wear isn’t really suitable for cold temperatures. So, where does that leave fashion-conscious folks who just want summer to last forever? There are a few things you can do to keep summer going even after the long, sunny days have ended. We’ll tell you what you can do below.
1. Wear Bright Colors
No one says you need to lose your flowery sense of style when summer ends. Winter clothes can sometimes become utilitarian, only serving the purpose of keeping you warm. But, if you purchase bright-colored clothing, then it may feel like summer all year. Of course, this doesn’t help if you don’t already have a lot of bright clothing in your existing wardrobe, but you can make that happen.
2. Keep Your Glasses Sunny
The frames of your glasses can project a certain type of ethos. If you want to keep a sunny atmosphere even in the winter months, then try wearing frames that remind you of a beach day. These Volte Face Brass frames can help you forget about the frigid temperatures of winter and remember when the sun stayed out past noon.
3. Keep Wearing Those Summer Dresses
Summer dresses give you carefree sensibility that tends to only work well in the summer months. Every girl has a floral-patterned summer dress that they absolutely adore, but who’s to say that you can’t keep wearing that dress into the colder months. While it may seem impractical, you can certainly get away with a summer dress, a nice winter coat, and a pair of ankle boots. The coat and the boots will keep your extremities warm and you’ll still get that summery feeling from a fun, flowery dress.
4. More Denim
Denim is season-neutral fabric, meaning that it works well when it’s hot and when it’s cold. That pair of skinny jeans will still look just as nice in the winter as it does in the summer. You can also get away with nice denim jacket over a particularly flowery shirt. There are almost endless possibilities when it comes to denim.
5. Boots Keep You Warm
We mentioned wearing boots with your summer dresses earlier, but you can really wear a pair of cute boots with anything. In fact, you can almost keep your summer attire the same. Just swap out the sandals for a pair of ankle boots and a cardigan, and you’ll be able to feel summery and warm. Just don’t try to keep this fashion statement up into the deep winter.
In the end, cold temperatures never mean that you have to sacrifice your sunny personality. Keep your chin up and continue wearing your floral-patterned summer dresses and cute tank tops. Just be smart about it. Throw on a few extra layers and keep yourself out of the cold as much as possible. It’s the only way to ensure that summer lasts forever.
